異形のミュージシャン、マリリン・マンソン率いる異界からやってきたシアトリカル・ヘヴィ・ロック・バンド。結成時のメンバーは他にトゥイギー・ラミレス（b）、マドンナ・ウェイン・ゲイシー(key)、デイジー・バーコヴィッツ(g)、ジンジャー・フィッシュ(ds) (後にバーコヴィッツに代わりジム・ザムが加入するも、本作レコーディング中に脱退、現在の(g)はジョン・ロウリー)。
'93年にナイン・インチ・ネイルズのトレント・レズナーに認められ、翌'94年に１stアルバム『ポートレート・オブ・アン・アメリカン・ファミリー』をリリース。96年末、アルバム「アンチクライスト・スーパースター」をリリース。全米初登場第3位に輝いたこの傑作アルバムにより、マリリンの存在感は一層の凄みを増し、翌'97年3月には待望の初来日。何とクラブ・クラスのハコでパフォーマンスを決行、オーディエンスの喝采を浴び、その人気を不動のものとする。
99年1月には2度目の来日公演を敢行。その後全米を"ビューティフル・モンスターズ・ツアー"と題してホールとともにツアーを開始。8月には富士急ハイランドで2日間にわたり行われたロック・フェスティヴァル「ビューティフル・モンスターズ・ツアー」で両日トリを務める。2001年1月に4度目の来日公演。そしてその夏には再度サマーソニックでヘッドライナーとして来日。
2003年5月約3年ぶりのニューアルバム「ザ・ゴールデン・エイジ・オブ・グロテスクを完成させる。アルバムストーリーとして1940年代のドイツ戦国時代をアイデアとした彼の思想は見事に当たり米ビルボード初登場1位というタイトルを見事復活させ、そのカリスマ性をここぞとばかりに爆発させた。
そして2009年、旧友であるトゥイギー・ラミレスを再びマンソンに迎え入れ新たなスタートきることとなる。初期型マンソンに戻ったという人もファンの中にいるだろう。しかしそれ以上にマンソン体内から出てくるエネルギーはこのアルバムを支え全世界に毒を撒き散らすだろう。

Heavy theatrical rock from the peculiar world created by Marilyn Manson, and performed by equally peculiar musicians, Marilyn Manson's band consists of Twiggy Ramirez (B), Ginger Fish (Dr), Madonna Wayne Gacy (Key), and John Lowery (G).

First noticed by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails in 1993, Marilyn Manson released their first album, "Portrait of an American Family" the following year.

At the end of 1996 the next album "Antichrist Superstar" was released. This album, which later became a masterpiece, reached number three on the Billboard charts, drastically increasing public attention. In March of the following year Marilyn Manson took their first step into the land of the rising sun. However, at that time their popularity was still limited as their concert tour proved to be the case.

In January of 1999, Marilyn Manson returned to Japan. After the American "Beautiful Monster Tour" he returned for a third time to Japan that August for the two-day rock festival in Fuji Kyu Highland. His 4th visit to Japan was in January 2001 and later that year they headlined at Summer Sonic.

In May of 2003 after a long awaited three-year absence, Marilyn Manson released the album "The Golden." The concept of this album was based on his ideas which were inspired by the war in Germany in the 1940's. The reception for this album was so magnificent that for the first time they reached number one on the Billboard Charts.

In 2009 with the reunion of old friends, Marilyn Mason is going through a re-inventive period. It might seem like a return to the old but a new energy has emerged and it looks like they will spread their poison across the world with this upcoming album.
