2007年3月、KAMIJO(ex.LAREINE)とHIZAKI(ex.SULFURIC ACID)を中心に、HIZAKIのソロプロジェクトである"HIZAKI grace project"よりベースのJasmine Youと藍華柳のギタリストTERUに老舗ライヴハウス目黒鹿鳴館の推薦ドラマーのYUKIが加わり結成。5月メンバー自らYOUTUBEに予告編映像を公開すると海外メディアからのライヴ出演依頼や取材が殺到。国内の取材は一切受けず海外メディアへのみの取材に答え、5月末にドイツ民放ドキュメンタリーテレビ番組の取材を受ける。6月に入るとその模様が産經新聞に大きく掲載されYAHOO!検索キーワードランキングで「ヴェルサイユバンド」が5位にランクイン。livedoorニュース、読売新聞、読売テレビ(あさパラ!)、フジテレビ(めざましテレビ)にて放送・掲載されその知名度は一気に日本国内にも広がった。
2008年3月19日Shibuya AX"Versailles Presents Tokyo Metropolis"より会場限定シングル「A Noble was Born in Chaos」の販売を開始。3月29日から4/10の間、5カ国6公演行った初のヨーロッパツアーでは延べ2,000人以上(パリ公演のみで700人以上)を動員し大成功に終える。5月30日にテキサス州ダラスで行われるアメリカ最大規模のアニメコンベンションにメインゲストとしてライヴ出演(3,000人以上を動員)。夏には待望のファーストフルアルバムをリリースし全国ツアーを大成功に終える。12月23日には渋谷C.C.Lemonホール(渋谷公会堂)でのワンマン公演を見事ソールドアウト。
2009年3月26日から続くインディーズラストツアーを終え、いよいよインディーズラストライヴとなる目黒鹿鳴館5Daysに挑む。そして遂に、6月24日 Versaillesメジャーデビューシングル「ASCENDEAD MASTER」発売！オリコンウィークリーチャート8位にランクイン！

Versailles was formed in March 2007, with vocalist KAMIJO (ex-LAREINE) and guitarist HIZAKI (ex-Sulfuric Acid) creating the core. Bassist Jasmine You (previously of HIZAKI's solo project HIZAKI grace project), and YUKI on drum, who was recommended by Rock May Kan which is a long -established venue in Tokyo, and TERU officially joined soon after AIKARYU split up.

In May, their first trailer video was greeted by a deluge of requests from overseas for both live performances and interviews. They refused Japanese interviews, accepting only requests from overseas. At the end of May, they appeared on a documentary program for German TV.

In June 2007, Versailles had such tremendous media exposure that the band's name reached number five in the Yahoo search engine's keyword ranking. Due to this exposure in both print and broadcasting, such as Live Door news, Yomiuri newspaper, Yomiuri Television, and Fuji Television, they achieved national recognition.

On March 19, 2008, Versailles released the limited single "A NOBLE WAS BORN IN CHAOS" at the "Versailles Presents Tokyo Metropolis" concert at Shibuya AX. From March 29th to April 10th, they embarked on their first European tour with six concerts in five countries. It was tremendously successful with a total of 2,000 people, including an audience of over 700 in Paris. On May 30th, Versailles performed in Dallas, Texas, as the main guest at one of America's biggest anime conventions, for an audience of 3,000.

Last summer, their highly-anticipated debut album "NOBLE" was released to great anticipation and critical acclaim, accompanied by a national tour. On December 23rd, they performed a stunning sold-out concert at Shibuya's CC Lemon Hall.

On March 26, 2009, Versailles began the last of their tours as an indies-band, which climaxed with a five-day series of concerts at Meguro Rock May Kan. This was immediately followed by the release of their major debut single "ASCENDEAD MASTER," which reached number eight on the Oricon weekly chart.
